Job Description:
Unpaid Processing Internship available at the State Library of Massachusetts Special Collections Department.
Under the supervision of the Head of Special Collections and Processing Archivist interns will process one or more collections. Processing projects may include papers from a state legislator, and committee or agency records. All processing projects will include review of provenance; biographical research on donor or creator; preliminary review and appraisal of collection; processing plan and processing; weeding if necessary; writing of finding aid; and creation of collection-level MARC record.
For each collection completed, the end products will be a fully processed and described manuscript collection; and a new MARC record for the library’s online public access catalog, including a link to the finding aid, which will be deposited in the Library’s digital depository.
Internship hours must be filled during department business hours: Monday-Wednesday, 9am-5pm.
Qualifications:
- The desired candidate would have completed LIS 438 to apply.
