Job Description:
Middlesex Community College seeks an enthusiastic and student-focused Student Success Librarian reporting to the Director of Libraries. This position is designed to support MCC’s goals for community engagement, inclusive excellence, and student success to continue our growth within the context of a new strategic plan. The Student Success Librarian will work collaboratively with our team of Student Success Librarians who are highly committed to excellence in library programs and services. The individual is responsible for providing library services such as information literacy instruction, reference service, research support and outreach expertise for the libraries’ academic and co-curricular partners. The Student Success Librarian will promote a positive work environment, communicate effectively and identify ways to promote library goals and initiatives.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Library Science or closely related field; with three (3) years experience and/or training that includes library operations, reference service, bibliographic instruction, circulation service, copy cataloging, and library information systems; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in an ethnically and culturally diverse environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve library goals.
- Teaching or instruction experience, whether in a library or other educational setting.
- Experience with equity-minded work and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities such as race, ethnicity, socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, veterans, and individuals with different academic preparation levels and varying physical and learning abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience that includes reference service, and bibliographic instruction in an academic library.
- Strong commitment to information literacy instruction and demonstrated aptitude for teaching in multiple formats.
- Knowledge of library database searching, the research process, and principles of active learning as applied to information literacy.
- Knowledge of current teaching pedagogies and experience designing and implementing engaging learning activities.
- Experience with student learning outcome assessment standards, tools and practices as applied to information literacy instruction.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in using LibGuides, Microsoft Office applications, and Adobe Captivate or Camtasia.
- Bilingual skills a plus.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $68,201 is the starting salary for a Grade 5 position with a Master’s Degree; actual salary commensurate with academic background and experience. Employees of Middlesex Community College are considered employees of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and receive benefits, which include:

Location: Bedford campus with occasional travel to Lowell as needed
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, schedule to be determined upon hire. This position will be eligible for a maximum of two days of telework in accordance with the College’s telework policy.
