Cataloging Project Manager, Jacob’s Pillow, (Becket, MA)

Jacob’s Pillow seeks a Cataloging Project Manager to help the Digital Archivist manage the cataloging portion of a grant-funded project to improve Jacob’s Pillow’s digital infrastructure. The Cataloging Project Manager will be primarily responsible for overseeing the quality assurance processes as well as helping supervise a team of Project Catalogers.

STATUS: Full-Time (Starting part-time in December 2024, followed by full-time from January through December 2025.)

START: December 2024 END:  December 2025

LOCATION: In-Person / Hybrid

COMPENSATION: $55,000–$65,000

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting hiring, training, and managing a staff of about a dozen part-time catalogers.
  • Assisting the creation of a cataloging quality management program and leading quality control checking of catalog records generated by project catalogers.
  • Cataloging digital objects, primarily audiovisual and photographic materials, in CollectiveAccess—Jacob’s Pillow’s content management system. Cataloging will consist of both creating new and updating existing records.
  • Maintaining cataloging standards as well as efficient and accurate daily data entry.
  • Performing relevant supplementary duties as assigned, including but not limited to testing workflows, creating and managing remote access to digital assets, and writing image descriptions.
  • Maintaining a safe, healthy, and equitable work environment at all times.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

  • One year of cataloging experience or equivalent coursework
  • One year of managerial/supervisory experience or clear demonstration of leadership and people management skills
  • Graduate degree earned or in progress in library or archival science or other relevant field
  • Familiarity with metadata and cataloging standards including FRBR and Dublin Core
  • Experience with CollectiveAccess
  • Experience with Asana and Google Workspace
  • General knowledge of dance, dance history, and/or Jacob’s Pillow history
  • Active commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility
  • Excellent critical thinking, organizational skills, and attention to detail
