The Wellesley Free Library is seeking a new member for its Information Services Department with a focus on serving our teenage patrons. Fearless, flexible and fun are three words we use to describe the Info Services team and they ring true. The teen-savvy and customer service oriented part-time (16 hours/week) Librarian will provide the highest quality library service. Reporting to the Information Services Supervisor, their duties will include reference and reader
advisory services, providing technology and support to all patrons, collection development of teen and YA materials, and creating/implementing teen programs, displays, and social media content. The successful candidate will have teen service experience; strong, positive communication and interpersonal skills; the ability and willingness to handle multiple responsibilities in a changing
environment; strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills; ability to consistently work calmly, diplomatically and accurately, even in high pressure situations; ability to adapt quickly and easily to new procedures and practices in a continually evolving environment, be conversant with various library, communication, and social media technologies; and have a strong interest and desire to work with teenagers. Work hours will include weekdays, some evenings until 9pm, and some weekends.
The starting salary is $31.27 per hour. Requires: MLS; one to three years of teen service and reference experience; knowledge of collection development; demonstrated knowledge of effective public service techniques; excellent oral and written communication skills; exemplary customer service skills; excellent computer skills, including familiarity with computer coding concepts, database searching and software specific to libraries.
