Information Services Librarian, Winchester Public Library, (Winchester, MA)

The Winchester Public Library is seeking an energetic, professional librarian to fill the position of part-time Information Services Librarian to work 19 hours per week. Duties include but are not limited to being regularly scheduled on the Reference Desk to provide general reference and readers advisory, technical assistance with computer applications, portable devices, downloads from OverDrive and other applications, and some collection development responsibilities. Position reports to the Head of Information Services.

Schedule: 19 hrs / wk, including evenings and weekends
Salary: Full salary range: $32.08 – $46.84 / hr; limited pro-rated benefits with 24 week probationary period. A CORI is required for the successful candidate.

Qualifications:

● MLS degree from an ALA accredited institution
● One year, recent, post-MLS public library experience in adult reference
● Current strong technical skills with various types of e-readers, portable devices, and experience with online databases.
● Excellent public service and oral and written communication skills required.

Duties:

  • Assist in the collection development of the reference collection, both print and non-print, if required.
  • Responsible for the processing of all interlibrary loan requests, including verification of titles, sending requests electronically, processing incoming and outgoing materials. Work requires a thorough knowledge of electronic database searching, standard interlibrary loan policies and procedures and familiarity with local and regional resources in public, academic, and special libraries.
  • Regularly scheduled at the Reference Desk.
  • May cover hours on the reference desk in the Children’s Room when needed.
