Reference Library Assistant, Gleason Public Library (Carlisle, MA)

The Gleason Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic and customer service-focused employee for a part-time senior library assistant position.

Description: Primary responsibilities include assisting customers of all ages in the use and selection of library materials and services; staffing the public service desks; and assisting customers with public computer use, research inquiries, and downloadable resources. Other duties may include selecting and cataloging library materials; assisting with programming and/or its promotion; and additional special projects as assigned. Hours:
Mondays 5-9pm, Wednesdays 5-9pm, and every 4th Saturday (10am-5pm Sept-Jun, 10am-1pm Jul-Aug). Additional hours sometimes available due to staff vacation or illness.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school or two years of library experience is desired; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to communicate effectively with all members of the public in a courteous and tactful manner. Computer and research skills required. Familiarity with public library services, systems, and policies preferred.

Salary: $26.24/hr
