Job Description:
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Henry Whittemore Library seeks a part-time reference librarian. The part-time Reference Librarian assists library users at the Research and Learning helpdesk, the Circulation Desk, and by phone, email, and chat. This is a part-time non-benefited, contract position, not to exceed 18 hours per week. The pay rate is $20.00 per hour.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides reference and research assistance in person, and by phone, email, chat, or online communication for two five-hour shifts
- Maintains statistics for all reference services provided
- Gathers data to assess reference statistics
- Support library instruction and research workshops
- Supports the Access Services department by serving as the supervisor for the main desk on Saturdays for a five-hour shift
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution of higher education, or currently enrolled in an accredited Library School
- Experience working in a library
- Ability to work with diverse constituencies
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work flexibly, collaboratively, and collegially in a dynamic workplace.
- Experience working with online resources such as online databases, Libguides, and Microsoft Office
Additional Information:
This is a part-time non-benefited, contract position, not to exceed 18 hours per week. The pay rate is $20.00 per hour.
