Temporary Video Processing Assistant Position, Harvard Art Museums, (Cambridge, MA)

The Harvard Art Museums is seeking to fill a temporary position to support our Communications team.
The individual will work alongside our Communications Coordinator to assist with the organization of
our video files and the processing of captions and transcriptions of our video media to meet the
requirements of Harvard’s Digital Accessibility Policy.
This is a part-time, non-benefits eligible, temporary position (14 hours per week) through December
2024, with the possibility of an extension. The preferred schedule is to work between 9am-5pm on
Monday-Friday. Salary is $25/hour. This position will be fully remote. Although this position is fully
remote, candidates must be a resident of Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, New
Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Virginia, or Washington
State.

Duties and Responsibilities:
– Assist the Communications Coordinator in reviewing and editing closed captioning for
internal and external video content.
– Assist the Communications Coordinator in drafting and publishing transcripts of video and audio content produced by the museum.
– Assist with the tracking and reporting of processed video content and media.
– Assist with the organization of the Communications team video files.
– Assist in generating alt-image text for video thumbnail images.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is detail oriented, reliable, and excellent communication skills, both in person and
in writing. Candidate should have ability to learn, write about, and edit technical content and have the
ability to transcribe audio as well as video.
– Comfortable working both independently and in a collaborative team setting.
– Strong editing skills, with ability to proof own work.
– Research and reporting skills.
– Able to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion.
– Must be organized and detail-oriented.
– Must have strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) and the ability to learn new programs.
– Experience with Adobe photoshop is helpful.
– Knowledge of art/art history and interest in museums is helpful.
