Assistant Librarian (2), The Peabody Institute Library of Danvers, (Danvers, MA)

Join our team! The Peabody Institute Library of Danvers is looking for two customer service oriented people to fill our part-time Assistant Librarian positions. These positions work at all three of our service desks in Children’s, Reference & Information Services, and Circulation, and afford the opportunity to gain experience in all three of these areas in the Library. Assistant Librarians work with all age groups, should be comfortable with using technology, and should possess excellent customer service skills to aid patrons in finding materials and information.  This position performs circulation duties, may aid with programming, performs basic research help, aids patrons with technology questions, and may help with shelving or other projects as part of their duties.

The Assistant Librarian position is part-time, non-benefitted, and usually works an average of 12-15 hours per week. The starting rate for the position is $19.09 – $24.03/per hour (AFSCME Unit B). Two different schedules are available: 

Schedule One (1): 

Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday 5pm to 9pm 

Every third (3rd) Saturday 9am to 5pm 

Schedule Two (2): 

Tuesday 5pm to 9pm 

Friday 9am to 1pm 

Saturday 9am to 5pm

The Peabody Institute Library will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item in the qualification section of the job description is labeled required.

Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree required;

Library experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with technology, including computers and mobile devices
Successful completion of Criminal Offender Record Check (CORI) background check.
