Part-time Graduate Librarian 2 Adult Services, Worcester Public Library, (Worcester, MA)

The Worcester Public Library has an exciting part-time opportunity for an out-going, community minded person in our Adult Services Department as a Graduate Librarian 2! This part-time position has an excellent benefits package with the City of Worcester.

Schedule: Three (3) days per week:

  • Tuesday – 11:30am – 5:30pm
  • Wednesday – 11:30am – 5:30pm
  • Every other Thursday – 9:00am – 5:30pm
  • Every other Saturday – 9:00am – 5:30pm

Salary

$27.85 – $36.36 per hour

Description

This part-time position (20 hours per week) is an entry level, graduate librarian position under the general direction of the Deputy Director for Adult Services, responsible for assisting with all aspects of adult services in a busy department, with a focus on providing customer assistance at various service points. The Adult Services Librarian provides professional reference & readers’ advisory services and maintains a working knowledge of library resources. This position assists with adult programming, outreach, digital literacy instruction, and collection development. Work will include evening and weekend assignments, and working at other locations. Prior experience working with diverse populations in an urban community

Minimum Requirements

  • Masters of Library Science from a library school accredited by the American Library Association or approved by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to successfully pass CORI/SORI
  • Reliable transportation to travel between required locations

Preferred Requirements

  • (1) One-year prior experience in a public library setting
  • (1) One-year prior customer service experience
  • Prior experience with Adult programming
  • Prior experience working in an urban setting
