Hourly Rate: $15.75

The Town of Needham is seeking passionate individuals to fill the part-time
position of Library Page at the Needham Free Public Library. Reporting to the
Circulation Supervisor, the Library Page will assists in shelving books,
magazines, and other library materials as well as keep shelves in order,
retrieving requested materials for patrons as needed.

Work Schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:45 to 6:30 p.m. and Fridays
from 2:45 to 5:30 p.m.

It is an exciting time to join the Needham Free Public Library team! Our new
Strategic Plan for FY2023-2027 positions the library to continue to meet the
community’s needs for years to come. In addition, our recent Library Space
Utilization Study reimagines the library’s interior space in four phases to enhance
the work we do for our patrons and the community. Along with diverse
collections, plentiful programming, and great services, the Needham Free Public
Library is on track to be the go-to place for new and current library workers.

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all
inclusive):

  • Empty and sort library materials that are delivered daily
  • Pack bins with library materials to go in deliveries
  • Empty book drop materials returned to the library from the outside and
    inside of the building
  • Shelve library materials such as books, CDs, DVDs, videos and AV
    materials, or other library materials
  • Retrieve items from shelves to fulfill patron holds
    Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of alpha-numeric order to shelve books throughout
    the library.
  • General knowledge of standard office procedures, practices, forms, and
    equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Skill in interpersonal and customer service.
