The Eda Kuhn Loeb Music Library seeks an innovative, collaborative, and user-centered professional to be the Music Librarian for Learning and Engagement. The Music Library is in the Music Department and part of a lively and collaborative community of practice. Reporting to the Richard F. French Librarian of the Eda Kuhn Loeb Music Library, this position contributes to Music Library management by providing leadership for the Music Library in the areas of information literacy instruction, research and reference services, outreach, and assessment. The Music Librarian for Learning and Engagement will lead a new cross-functional instruction team that provides an active community of practice for the Music Library centered around teaching and learning.
As a member of the Music Library Leadership Team, they will represent the needs of learning and engagement and contribute to strategic direction and priority-setting. They will collaborate with colleagues across the Harvard Library working in learning and engagement and related areas, including others in the Arts, Archives, and Special Collections portfolio, Services for Academic Programs, and the User Research Center, providing an important link between the Music Library and broader portfolio and Harvard Library initiatives. As the primary liaison to the Music Department, they will collaborate with the Music Librarian for Scholarly Communications and Digital Programs to develop learning and engagement services for the Music Library, including research consultations, course-integrated information literacy instruction, and support for digital scholarship and interdisciplinary areas of study. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to partner with the Librarian and others to re-envision music reference services, and they will collaborate with the Music Library’s embedded Access Services staff to coordinate reference services and related training.
