Location: User Research Center (Remote, must have residency in one of the Harvard
Payroll States)
Hours: 14 hours/week; any time Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
Compensation: $20/hour
Description
The URC seeks a User Experience Intern to support user-centered research and design at
Harvard Library. The intern in this role will have the opportunity to engage with the UX
team to conduct and analyze user research, create research deliverables, and author
research reports. The intern will contribute to user research on search and discovery, as
well as the refinement of digital library experiences. This role reports to the Head of UX &
Digital Accessibility.
Primary Responsibilities
● Support studies across library digital products and in-person services using surveys,
focus groups, user/usability testing, and ideation workshops.
● Recruit, moderate, and collect data for remote user research studies.
● Analyze data to produce strategic insights and applicable recommendations that
guide product and service decisions and user design improvements.
● Present results and recommendations from UX studies to various stakeholders and
other audiences.
● Partner with colleagues who do UX and accessibility work across the libraries.
Additional Qualifications
● Proficiency in Google Docs/Sheets/Slides.
● Working knowledge of Slack, Trello, and Miro for project collaboration.
● Interest in user experience (UX), user research, digital accessibility, and libraries.
