The DiMenna-Nyselius Library at Fairfield University is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Scholarly Communication Librarian to join our team. This newly-created position plays a key role in supporting the research lifecycle at the University by being a go-to resource for sharing, promoting, and preserving the scholarship and creative works produced by our faculty, students, staff, and Academic Centers and Institutes.
The Scholarly Communication Librarian provides direction, strategies, and support for DigitalCommons@Fairfield (the open-access institutional repository) and Pure4EGS (our related faculty profile platform). This position establishes, documents, and communicates policies and procedures that govern digital content acquisition, submission, and display for DigitalCommons@Fairfield. The Scholarly Communication Librarian generates reports for departments, academic centers, and the Library around DigitalCommons@Fairfield activity. In addition, this position will have, or develop, knowledge of ways to demonstrate research impact, such as altmetrics and bibliometrics, impact factors, ORCiD profiles, and readership reports generated via the institutional repository. This position will also supervise the Library Specialist for the Institutional Repository.
As a collaborator with Faculty Partnership Program librarians, the Scholarly Communication Librarian leads workshops and promotes scholarly communication and repository solutions, while also advocating for barrier-free and open access to research. Additionally, this position serves as a valuable resource, providing guidance and advice to the campus community and Library on copyright, fair use, and author rights issues.
