NIH Recent Graduates perform duties in one of the Institutes or Centers in the National Institutes of Health (NIH). NIH Recent Graduates receive on-the-job training for one year and complete at least 40 hours of formal interactive training while in the program. Assignments are aimed at developing the employee’s skills and knowledge to progressively perform more difficult duties.
Duties
- Assists in the performance of data science topics that include scientific, statistical, and predictive techniques (e.g., regression analysis, statistical analysis, modeling, mathematical programming, machine learning, and data visualization).
- Develops and implements state-of-the-art data science applications, models, technologies, and guiding principles for data use and analysis in direct support of the organization’s mission and programs.
- Presents findings in the most relevant format, including text, graphs, charts, tables, and models.
- Assists in the development and integration of data mining capacities using algorithms as well as structured databases to perform predictive analytics on these data.
- Implements and complies with data science-related regulations, policies, and other guidelines.
- Assists in research and statistical analysis on available data and in developing improved program materials and documentation.
- Participates in conducting comprehensive evaluations and assessments of the effectiveness of data science proposals and solutions to provide findings, conclusions, and recommendations to technical and program staff.
