Children’s Librarian/Assistant Director, Orange Public Libraries, (Orange, MA)

The Orange Public Libraries seeks a creative, dynamic Children’s Librarian to provide exceptional service to the children and families in Orange. Orange is a small town of approximately 7,500 residents and has both a main downtown library and a part-time satellite in North Orange.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to create a welcoming space for children, families and youth, provide engaging and educational programming, possess a deep appreciation for children’s literature and literacy, have well-rounded collection development experience, and must show a willingness to pursue school and community outreach opportunities. The Children’s Librarian will keep statistics, liaise with the Library Director, and step in as needed in the shared mission of leading the library system forward.

Qualifications

·         An ALA accredited MLIS or MLS degree.

·         Two years or more of experience in children’s library services, including supervisory experience.

·         Enthusiasm for and knowledge of children’s development and literature.

Salary: $55,000. This is a full time, benefitted position (35 hours).
