Information Services Librarian- Outreach, Morse Institute Library, (Natick, MA)

The Morse Institute Library has an opening for a creative and enthusiastic full-time Info Services Librarian in charge of Literacy services throughout the library (37.5 hours per week.) The Morse Institute Library is a library with strong community support in the town of Natick. 

The Info Services- Outreach Librarian plans, implements, and advocates for services for Natick’s language learning community, curating literacy content and collections for and with these populations. They provide inclusive services to patrons from a large array of national, lingual, and cultural backgrounds; and oversee adult basic education workshops, including English Language Learner (ELL) services, basic English classes, and special projects at the library and at other outreach locations. The Info Services- Outreach Librarian engages with the community, supporting outreach efforts throughout the library. They will help to maintain outreach collections, and conduct off-site programs and services as needed, using the library’s new bookmobile. 

The ideal candidate would also have strong technology skills, and familiarity with social media platforms. Bilingual abilities, experience with Springshare apps, Sierra, and/or basic computer troubleshooting skills are a plus.

The Info Services- Outreach Librarian should have a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an accredited institution, and have demonstrated a minimum of 2 years of working with diverse populations. They also must have a minimum of two years appropriate professional experience working with individuals or groups engaged in literacy and ESOL education, and have experience in literacy program development. In exceptional circumstances, specialized education, training, and/or experience may be substituted for part of the educational requirements. 

This is a full-time, benefited position (37.5 hours per week) starting at $33.87/hr. It is a non-exempt position. The Town of Natick offers excellent employee benefits. There is a set weekly schedule including Saturdays and two evenings per week.
