Reference/Children’s Librarian (Part-Time)
The Bedford Free Public Library is seeking a candidate with excellent customer service skills to
fill the position of Librarian 1. This position involves providing outstanding service to patrons of
all ages and abilities at our Reference or Children’s desks. In addition, this person may
participate in adult collection development, provide computer and Internet instruction, and
teach patrons how to access digital content offered by our Library.

Qualifications:
MLIS or MLS degree from an ALA-accredited institution.
We will consider MLIS candidates.
Familiarity with Innovative Interfaces (Sierra), Aspen, and Assabet are welcomed.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, and additional world language
abilities are highly desirable.

Salary: $29.87 per hour to start. Effective July 1, 2024 the new rate is $37.72. There are no
benefits.

Schedule: We currently need Mondays from 9 to 2 in Reference and Wednesdays from 5 to 9
in the Children’s Room. Other shifts include Saturdays in rotation, and Sundays from mid-
September until the end of April. Sunday shifts are 1 to 5 and are paid at time and a half.
