Interlibrary Loan Specialist, UMass Amherst, (Amherst, MA)
Posted May 30, 2024
Due to an upcoming retirement, UMass Amherst Interlibrary Loan is hiring another Interlibrary Loan Specialist!
Note that while the description is the same, this is an additional position to the one you may have seen posted back in January. If you were interested but the timing didn’t work out, please consider applying now.
The Interlibrary Loan Specialist uses resource sharing systems, library systems, and a variety of online databases to process requests for materials needed by University patrons, and requests from other libraries for materials held by the University Libraries; ensures that records are updated quickly and accurately; responds thoroughly and accurately to questions from patrons and other libraries; participates in consortial initiatives related to resource sharing; and contributes to department documentation relating to resource sharing. This position is one of five staff members in the Interlibrary Loan unit, and reports to the Resource Sharing Librarian (me). We have a truly excellent and collaborative team here.
This position works Monday-Friday daytime hours (typically 8am-4pm) and has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule (most ILL staff work one day remote per week during the semester and two remote days per week during the summer). The position is in the USA/MTA union at a grade 14 step 1 (about $24.50/hour with annual step increases – more info at: https://www.umass.edu/hr/media/971/download?attachment). Our unions have also done a great job of negotiating for cost of living increases.
