The new Manager of Technical Services and Collection Development will be based at our Central Library and oversee the work of cataloging and acquisitions workers as well as manage our significant collections budget, including endowments and trusts, of approximately $750,000. The annual salary is $68,030.04. A generous benefits package is available, including 13 paid holidays and health insurance, vacation, and sick time (some after a 6 month probationary period).

Candidates should have an ALA-accredited MLS and some experience in a library setting. Experience supervising staff and managing the work of a team are important. Excellent customer service orientation is needed, and a “turned outward” approach to community engagement is ideal. Bilingual abilities desirable (English and Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese or other community language). The City of Springfield has a residency requirement and allows new hires up to a year to establish residency.
