STARTING SALARY: $51,295 – $58,805

PRIMARY DUTIES

This full-time (40 hour) position in a public library will include at least one evening and
weekends in rotation. As part of the youth services team, assists customers at the teen and
children’s service desks. Participates in print and digital collection development. Plans timely
and innovative programs for teens. Collaborates with the children’s librarian to serve tweens.
Contributes to the department’s web presence and social media efforts. Serves as a liaison to
staff at local secondary schools. Plans and participates in community engagement activities with
schools and community based organizations. Performs other tasks as assigned.
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of Master’s Degree from an ALA accredited institution and 2 years public library
experience OR BS/BA and 3-5 years related experience in a public library setting. Ability to
work as part of a team in a busy public library and interact with a diverse public in a welcoming
and respectful way. Thorough understanding of adolescent development and advance knowledge
of library services to teens. A strong knowledge of tween and teen literature. Proficiency and
experience with MS Office and demonstrated ability and interest in using computers, Internet,
mobile and emerging technologies as it relates to resources for services for youth and caregivers.
The successful candidate must enjoy working directly with teens.
