This is an opportunity to join a dynamic team at Fogler Library at the University of Maine, the Flagship campus of the University of Maine System. Located in Orono, in the heart of the beautiful State of Maine, this land, sea and space grant public university is at the forefront of research with state, national and international impacts. This position offers the opportunity to support the instructional, research, scholarship, creative activity, and public service missions of the University of Maine by promoting adoption of open educational resources (OER), providing information literacy instruction and design assistance, reference and collection development service, and research assistance at Maine’s largest library.
This Open Education Resources Librarian position will promote, identify, and instruct regarding adoption of OER resources, as well as serve as the liaison librarian for communication disorders, food science & nutrition, and forest resources, with the potential for other discipline assignments. As a member of the Research & Instruction Department, they will also be part of a team providing in-person and online general reference service, as well as information literacy instruction. The position also allows opportunities to participate in campus and state-wide committees.
The successful candidate will have experience with OER promotion in an academic setting, academic reference experience, experience or training with information literacy instruction, experience with classroom instruction and web page and/or tutorial creation, familiarity with artificial intelligence in support of research and instruction, and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Reference experience with science disciplines is preferred.
