Library Director, Westborough Public Library, Westborough, MA
Posted May 1, 2024
The Westborough Public Library seeks applications from qualified, enthusiastic, innovative individuals for the full-time position of Library Director. This is an opportunity to lead a library that is busy, loved by the community, and a true “heart” of the community. This position is appointed by, and reports to, a nine-member elected Board of Trustees. The ideal candidate will be ready and eager to lead an enthusiastic, service-driven, high-performing team that’s currently 13 FTE that values professionalism, integrity, and responsiveness. After 14 years in the role, our current Director is taking over the Director role at the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. The Trustees seek to have a new Director in place by mid-July.
The library is currently in the process of creating a new Strategic Plan and is in the Design Development phase of an exciting Repair Project. A new multi-age Community Center is being created in town, and there are a multitude of opportunities for collaborations with other town departments in what will be a beautiful space. An active teen advisory group of over 50 students helps guide our busy Teen Zone programming, so a candidate who can help build on that success is necessary. A desire and demonstrated capacity to be an active part of a dynamic, diverse community is needed. The ideal candidate will uphold the values of the library’s vision statement: “a comfortable and welcoming place where people of all ages and cultures come together.” Additional information about the Westborough Public Library can be found at https://www.westboroughlibrary.org.
