Technical Services Internship, Phillips Library, Peabody Essex Museum (Rowley, MA)

The Phillips Library Technical Services Department is seeking an intern from June 6 – August 22, 2024. Under the direction of the Technical Services Librarian and Assistant Cataloging Librarian, the intern will participate in collection development activities including library stacks space management, uncataloged material assessment, copy cataloging, and metadata creation. The intern will have the opportunity to learn about the scope of the library’s collections and its acquisitions policy, and will conduct assessments of uncataloged resources. This internship provides a stipend of $1500.00 and will require approximately 15 hours a week, on site.
Internship Qualifications: Interest in library services or a related field. Competence with Microsoft Office suite; familiarity with Library of Congress classification, authorities and subject headings a plus. Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and interpersonal skills. The intern will be handling boxes up to 40 lbs. Please note that this position is in Rowley, MA and requires a car for transportation to the Collections Center.
