Come join the team at the Marlborough Public Library as the new Programming and Outreach Librarian. This position is part of the Adult Services department and is a brand new position that was created to support programming for adults, and outreach to the community. The library is seeking candidates who are friendly, energetic, outgoing, loves talking about the library to anyone that will listen, enjoys the thrill of finding the right information for someone, and can come up with creative solutions to problems.
Duties include staffing the 1st floor Information Desk, planning and executing both active and passible programs for adults such as speaker series, ELL programs, adult summer reading, concerts and more. Responsible for the marketing programming for adults using library branding guidelines. Leading the promotion of library services out in the community by attending summer farmers markets and other community events, visiting assisted living facilities, working with local businesses and other city organizations. Assists with collection management, readers advisory, local history research and more.
This is a 40 per/week position that includes one evening per week and Saturdays on rotation.
Qualifications
MLS and 1 year of public library experience. Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is highly desirable. For more information see job posting on the City of Marlborough website
