Description:
The Merrill Library Coordinator oversees all aspects of Merrill Library, including access services, reference, instruction, and programming. As the Library’s lead representative, they are responsible for outreach to the Machias Campus. The Coordinator works to align Merrill’s services with those of Fogler Library (in Orono) by working closely and reciprocally with Fogler Library. As part of the leadership team, they advise the Dean of Libraries on Machias procedures, regulations, and needs. The Coordinator also consults with the UMM Dean and Campus Director on local campus matters and keeps them apprised of Library matters. Typical hiring range for this position is $53,000 to $56,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Qualifications
Required:
- American Library Association accredited Masters Degree in Library and/or Information Science.
- Two or more years of successful experience in the management and supervision of staff engaged in service to patrons, including at least one year at a college or university library.
- Strong written and oral communication.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of emerging areas of librarianship, including the capabilities and future trends of service models, library technologies, and systems to maximize discovery and access to scholarly resources.
- Proficient working knowledge of computers, software, applications, and the ability to learn and utilize a variety of library programs and ILS.
Preferred:
- Cataloging knowledge and experience, especially original cataloging and metadata using current metadata standards, including RDA and Dublin Core.
- Experience with Open Educational Resources (OER)
- Experience with scholarly communications and/or digital scholarship
