Statement of Duties: The Reference Librarian will provide reference services to the University community and participate in the library’s Instruction and Information Literacy program.

Detailed Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:

Reference/Research Help

Provide in-person, email, online chat, phone, and appointment based reference services to University students, faculty, staff, and public patrons, including one-to-one reference assistance, technological assistance, and statistical tracking.

Special Projects

Assist liaison librarians with collection development.
Participate in the development of digital collections supporting the Archives under the supervision of the Archivist.
Assist instruction librarians in the development, creation, and management of digital course materials, research guides, and other curriculum content.
Potential opportunity to participate in the instruction program, providing instruction or research sessions for general library and information literacy skills.
Other related projects as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements: MLS from an ALA accredited program or within 2 courses of completing an MLS.

Preferred Requirements: Experience providing in-person and virtual reference service, including a broad knowledge of both print and online information sources in an academic library.

Must be able to pass a CORI/SORI check.

Additional Information:

This is a part time non-benefited position at $25/hour.

Fall/Spring Semester hours:

Monday 3:00-6:00pm
Wednesday 3:00-6:00pm

Additional Fall/Spring Semester shifts may be available and may include an occasional Sunday shift. Spring 2024 semester ends on May 14th. Fall 2024 semester begins on September 5th.

Summer Semester:

Limited hours may be available during intersessions (time between semesters) and Summer Semesters, but are currently not scheduled.
