The Boston College Libraries is seeking a versatile Special Collections Metadata Librarian to engage in the creation of robust, high-quality, accurate metadata for a wide variety of printed and published materials. The incumbent will create MARC21 catalog records for published materials across collecting areas, primarily focusing on modern and early printed materials, graphics, audio/visual materials, maps, and archival collections. They will also assist with the development and implementation of initiatives to assess and enhance legacy metadata and the cataloging of early printed materials.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for facilitating discovery and supporting access to special collections materials in a variety of formats and languages. They will work collaboratively with the Head of Metadata and Conservation Services and other cataloging staff, to ensure that cataloging policy and metadata creation adheres to national and local best practices.
Salary and Title will be determined based on experience:
- Sr. Special Collections Metadata Librarian, 5 yrs. experience with MLS $71,500 – $89,350
- Special Collections Metadata Librarian, 2 yrs. experience with MLS $64,850 – $81,050
- Associate Special Collections Metadata Librarian 1 yr. experience with MLS $58,650 – $73,300
