We seek an enthusiastic, innovative, and flexible individual who wants to join a team committed to providing excellent library services to patrons of all ages in Somerville.
Statement of Duties:
Reports to the Deputy Director
- Fills in at public service desks across all library locations, providing exceptional customer service to patrons of all ages
- Provides engaging reference and reader’s advisory services using a variety of digital, electronic, and print resources
- Assists patrons accessing Library’s digital, electronic, and print collections
- Provides basic troubleshooting to assist patrons using Library technology
- Under supervision of Library Department Heads, develops, plans, implements, and evaluates in-person and virtual programs for people of all ages and backgrounds
- Engages in outreach to, and develops and maintains partnerships and relationships with local community, civic, and business groups and organizations, as well as City of Somerville departments
- Develops, selects, and maintains library collections as assigned
- Promotes new and existing library collections, services, programs, and events through outreach and in-library efforts, and via print, web, and social media
- Attends professional workshops, seminars, conferences, and continuing educational opportunities
- Keeps current in trends and best practices in the library world
- Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned
