Senior Manager, Library Academic Services, Drexel University, (Philadelphia, PA)

Job Summary

This position manages the Libraries’ efforts in planning, implementing, and assessing library expertise delivered in support of Drexel’s academic enterprise. This includes supervising a team of subject librarians who work closely with students, faculty, and staff to provide guidance and personal consultations to meet their teaching, learning and research needs. The manager leads the Libraries’ efforts to build metaliteracy skills in multiple information, data, web, and media formats; has responsibility for coordinating the selection of scholarly resources; and has an understanding of scholarly communications and other trends that impact faculty and researcher productivity.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, monitor, and implement guides, tools, and recommendations that support self-directed learning, curriculum and multiple literacies.
  • Guide the development of resources that coach and guide students, faculty and staff to find, access, evaluate and use information. 
  • Coordinate collection selection decisions with subject librarians, acquisitions and resource sharing teams.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of subject librarians.
  • Advance campus awareness of Open Access and current scholarly communication trends.
  • Build partnerships, anticipate trends, and utilize data to ensure Libraries’ contributions are recognized.
  • Ensure effective pedagogical practices are modeled by building a community of continued learning and collaboration among team members.
  • Assess impact of services on student academic success, core competencies and post-graduate success.
  • Contribute to strengthening the Libraries’ culture of diversity, equity, inclusiveness and belonging.
  • Other duties as assigned.
