University of Central Florida (UCF) Libraries seeks a dynamic, full-time assistant librarian to provide in-person and virtual research and instruction services for UCF students and faculty located on Valencia College campuses. This is a 12-month, non-tenure track faculty position. This position plays an important role in developing and implementing innovative solutions for library initiatives that support the scholarly, teaching, and learning goals of the university and its communities.
This position reports to the department head of Student Learning & Engagement and UCF Connect Libraries unit within the Academic Engagement division. The unit includes librarians assigned to academic programs and learning communities, research consultation and instruction services, and engagement with key campus partners. The UCF Connect Librarian is expected to be a collaborative, strategic, and innovative team member. Professional service and scholarly contributions are expected.
Responsibilities:
- Provides research and instructional support for UCF classes held on Valencia College campus locations.
- Serves as embedded librarian for Connect campus-based courses as requested.
- Participates in UCF Connect administrative events and activities.
- Acts as point of contact for UCF Libraries with students, faculty, and staff.
- Serves as subject librarian for the architecture program.
- Works to meet architecture acquisition goals stated in program reviews.
- Collaborates with subject area faculty and partner college librarians.
- Expends assigned acquisitions budget in a timely manner.
- Works collaboratively with other departments across the UCF Libraries.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
The UCF Libraries includes the John C. Hitt Library, the Curriculum Materials Center, and Special Collections and University Archives on the Orlando main campus; branch libraries on the Rosen College and Downtown campuses; and partnerships with Direct Connect state colleges. The Libraries offers a collection of more than 2.2 million volumes, is a partial depository for government documents and patents, and manages the institutional repository STARS. We are members of the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries (ASERL), Center for Research Libraries (CRL), Florida Virtual Campus (FLVC), and HathiTrust. The UCF Libraries has 105 full-time staff comprised of 44 faculty librarians and 61 support and administrative staff, and 50+ student employees dedicated to serving UCF faculty, staff, students, and the greater Orlando community. Minimum Qualifications:
A master’s degree from an ALA-accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of emerging trends in academic libraries.
- Experience in providing virtual and face-to-face research and instruction services.
- Experience in providing library instruction, research consultations, or outreach and engagement services.
- Evidence of professional service or record of publications and presentations.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:
Minimum Salary $60,000 to negotiable.
The primary work location for this position is on UCF main campus, with travel to Valencia campus locations as needed. Night and weekend shifts may be required.
