Substitute Reference Librarian, Lincoln Public Library (Lincoln, MA)

Under general supervision of the Assistant Director, the Substitute Reference Librarian will be
responsible for providing reference services to the Lincoln Public Library community as the schedule
needs. Engage with Lincoln community in-person, via phone, or via email regarding library reference and research services. Direct patrons to appropriate physical or digital library materials within the Lincoln Public Library, the Minuteman Network, and/or Commonwealth Catalog. Answer inquiries regarding library procedures, functions, upcoming events, and services. Guide patrons to new reading material through friendly Reader’s Advisory. Troubleshoot problems related to library equipment such as workstations, printer, and copier. Maintain statistical records for all reference services provided. Provide Circulation desk coverage as needed.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Library Science required. Knowledge of integrated library systems. The Lincoln Public Library uses several systems to assist patrons, including Sierra ILS, Assabet Interactive, Libby, Hoopla, and Kanopy. Knowledge of these systems is preferred; instruction can be provided. One year of library reference experience and computer troubleshooting. Ability to provide superior customer service along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and maintain cooperative working relationships. Experience working with and supporting a diverse population.
