Assessment Librarian at San Diego State University, (San Diego, CA)

The San Diego State University (SDSU) Library invites applications for an Assessment Librarian, a 12-month, tenure-track position to be appointed at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian, beginning in July 2024. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the potential for evidence-based assessment to transform library spaces and services and committed to building meaningful collaboration with campus and community partners. We seek a skilled communicator who can collaborate with colleagues to tell the Library’s story about its role in supporting student success and faculty scholarship, promote engagement with faculty colleagues and campus partners, advance librarian-led inquiry, and help to build a culture of assessment and organizational improvement throughout the University Library.

The Library supports, promotes, and extends the distinctive teaching, learning, scholarship, and community engagement initiatives of the university, especially as those are highlighted in the university strategic plan. The Library is committed to service and student-centered innovation, with recent initiatives including the Digital Humanities Center, build IT makerspace, and partnerships focused on student success, such as the Latinx Resource Center. The University has recently adopted a set of institutional learning outcomes that include information literacy and critical thinking, an area of opportunity for this position. The Assessment Librarian will join an evolving Collections unit that collaborates with colleagues across the library to advance research services, technical services, scholarly communication and open access initiatives, as well as digital scholarship and special collections. The Assessment Librarian will also provide critical support to the Office of the Dean and to Library Marketing and Communications.

This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position. Tenure is dependent upon continuing library service effectiveness, professional growth and development, and service to the library, University, and community. The minimum salary for this position is based on the current CSU salary schedule for Sr. Assistant Librarian and may be revised based on contract collective bargaining. The anticipated salary range is from $74,280 to $77,508. Salary placement will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience, and salaries higher than the published maximums may be offered in limited circumstances.
