Resource Acquisitions Assistant

We are seeking a full-time paraprofessional to join the Resource Acquisitions & Management team at Boston College Libraries. The Resource Acquisitions Assistant will share responsibility for ordering and invoicing of monographic resources in various formats, supporting research and learning needs across several academic areas, with a particular focus on supporting the material purchasing needs for the School of Theology and Ministry Library. 

Responsibilities

● Place orders with appropriate vendors for monographic acquisitions, according to established guidelines

● Use an integrated library system (Alma) to maintain records relating to: orders, vendors, and inventory

● Troubleshoot and resolve order and/or invoicing questions and problems.

● Receive new material in Alma, routing it to appropriate departments for additional processing

● Develop and foster good working relationships with vendors, sales representatives, Library selectors, and other University staff

 ● Contribute to the unit’s goals by completing special projects as needed

Day Supervisor, Theology & Ministry Library

The TML Supervisor, Daytime reports to the TML Head Librarian and oversees all Access Services operations (i.e., circulation, reserves, copy/scan services, and general stacks maintenance) during daytime hours. This position, in cooperation with the TML Supervisor, Evening, also hires, trains, supervises and evaluates student employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Has responsibility for all administrative P-Card purchasing for the TML 
  • Manages, participates in, and assures smooth functioning of all Access Services functions in the daytime
  • In collaboration with the TML Supervisor, Evening, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates student employees
  • Maintains the budget for the TML’s student workforce
  • Updates catalog records as needed
  • Works with the TML Head Librarian, the TML Supervisor, Evening, and the Circulation Assistant to evaluate and set goals for Access Services at the TML
  • Together with the TML Head Librarian, the TML Supervisor, Evening, and the Circulation Assistant plans, reviews, revises, and documents TML’s Access Services procedures, policies, and workflow as necessary
  • Maintains statistics and provides reports as needed
  • Liaises with BC Facilities Services staff regarding library physical plant issues.
  • With the TML Supervisor, Evening, represents the TML at BCL All Access meetings
  • With the TML Supervisor, Evening, represents the TML at Student Supervisor COI  meetings
