The Springfield (Massachusetts) City Library’s Central Library is the heart of our busy, nine-location system. Come work at our forward-looking, award-winning public library. We are recruiting talented, community-engaged candidates for this full-time, 40 hours a week job. The annual salary is $76,194, and a generous benefits package is available after a 6 month probationary period. Thirteen paid holidays include Juneteenth.

The Adult & Youth Information Services Manager is responsible for directing all activities of Central Library Adult and Information Services and Children’s Services areas. They establish system-wide standards for programming and information services, and ensure that department services are meeting established standards, objectives, and goals and that services are provided in an appropriate and timely manner in response to changing public needs. Work is performed with professional administrative judgment and decisions are made in accordance with the policies and objectives of the Library Department, with review by the Library Director. The Central Library opened to the public in 1912. We’re looking for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and the completion of an American Library Association-accredited Masters of Library Science.  Candidates should have five years of experience in a library with two to three years of management or supervisory experience that demonstrates knowledge of public services, including reference, programming, public instruction, library collections, service delivery technology and service evaluation. You’ll need an excellent customer service orientation; and a “turned outward” approach to community engagement is ideal. Bilingual abilities desirable (English and Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, Somali, Dari, or other community language).
