Peer Review Support Assistant
The American Meteorological Society (AMS) is seeking a Peer Review Support Assistant (PRSA)
to assist volunteer editors with handling manuscripts submitted to peer review, with the goal of
prompt editorial decisions. The ideal candidate will thrive in a team-oriented position with
administrative support and customer service components. This position reports directly to the Peer
Review Support Manager.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining clear communications with editors, reviewers, and authors throughout
    peer review, to foster an open and transparent process
  • Maintaining records of the peer review process
  • Other duties as necessary to contribute to the overall success of the peer review support
    team, the Publications Department, and the Society as a whole

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience handling multiple responsibilities and prioritizing tasks
  • Experience in a professional office environment is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with basic business applications (Google Suite, Adobe)
  • Experience with Editorial Manager® or other peer-review tracking systems a plus

This is a full-time position and salary will be commensurate with experience. We offer a
comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision coverage, paid vacation, sick
time, and holidays, and a superior retirement plan. This position will be on-site in our Boston
office with an opportunity for a hybrid schedule of remote work and days in the office each week.
