The Town of Hopkinton seeks an Assistant Library Services Director

Under the direction of the Library Services Director, the Assistant Library Services Director (newly created position) is responsible for assisting in the planning, organization, supervision, development and administration of all library services, personnel, operations,programs and special projects. This position involves professional librarian activities, administration, and is responsible for conveying and carrying out the Library’s Mission and Vision Statements, Objectives, and Customer Service program. The employee plans and conducts library activities in accordance with prescribed policy with latitude allowed for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative, develops rapport with library patrons, and supervises and supports library staff. Responsible for the oversight of the Library’s volunteer program and staff scheduling.  Acts as the Library’s Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice officer.

40 hours/week including at least one evening per week. Required to participate in the weekend rotation.


Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program and five (5) to seven (7) years progressively responsible library experience to include managing or supervising staff; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Salary Range

$79,913.60 – $95,898.40  /  year
