Archives Processing Assistant (Part-Time), Northeastern University, Boston, MA

The Northeastern University Archives and Special Collections is seeking a processing assistant who will support collection management services. The position is responsible for assisting the Processing Archivist with collection preservation and description. This work will include basic preservation, inventories, and data standardization. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining experience in an archives and special collections setting while attending graduate school.

Duties:

  • Rehouse collections into archival enclosures
  • Create folder level inventories
  • Create item level inventories for audiovisual collections
  • Data standardization
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in a graduate library science or history degree program
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, OpenRefine, and ArchivesSpace
  • Ability and willingness to lift boxes weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Commitment to achieving and maintaining diversity in the workplace

Salary:

$21.00 per hour

Hours:

17 hours per week
