Research Services Coordinator, Fairfield University, Fairfield, Connecticut

JOB SUMMARY:  
The DiMenna-Nyselius Library at Fairfield University is seeking an outgoing and innovative individual for our Research Services Coordinator opening.  Working closely with colleagues across the organization, this newly created position will coordinate the development, implementation, promotion, and assessment of the Library’s research services across modalities and geographic locations. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Public Services & Coordinator of the Academic Commons, the Research Services Coordinator will provide strategic leadership to respond to student and faculty research needs with the development of new services, policies, and procedures.

This position will also provide leadership in the development and implementation of Library programming that creates opportunities for intellectual conversation and ideation, a central component of our 5-year strategic plan. They will work with the faculty partnership program librarians to identify programming opportunities and need, develop and implement workshops and events for faculty, staff, and alumni.

The successful candidate will have two or more years of professional academic librarian experience, and be able to meet deadlines and multiple demands. They will also have the ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, to a variety of audiences; the ability to interact effectively and work productively, cooperatively, and collaboratively with a variety of individuals and groups across the University; Creative approach to the development of new services and commitment to responsive and innovative service is essential. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two or more years of professional academic librarian experience,
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate the development, implementation, promotion, and assessment of research services,
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement programming that creates opportunities for intellectual conversation and ideation,
  • Creative approach to the development of new services and commitment to responsive and innovative service,
  • Ability to meet deadlines and multiple demands,
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, to a variety of audiences,
  • Ability to interact effectively and work productively, cooperatively, and collaboratively with a variety of individuals and groups across the University,
  • Results-oriented, flexible, self-motivated, and have an ability to collaborate with colleagues in a goal-oriented library team,
  • Ability to use technology in creative ways to solve problems and/or facilitate workflows,
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

EDUCATION: Graduate degree in Library & Information Science (MLS or equivalent) from an ALA accredited program, second master’s in subject specific field or equivalent related experience is preferred.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends as required for meetings and special events.
