The Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) at Simmons University is seeking a part-time graduate assistant to work up to 20 hours per week ($17/hour) during the academic year. This position will report to Karene Alexander Thorne, Operations and Program Manager, CFE and will also provide administrative support to
other CFE staff.

This position provides support to projects funded by a grant from the Davis Educational Foundation.

The graduate assistant (GA) will work with Dr. Jyoti Puri to craft and implement a variety of programs designed to support faculty in their leadership and career development.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate student interested in working with faculty and administration to support faculty excellence in leadership and career development at Simmons. Toward this goal, the graduate assistant will be asked to work on various tasks such as:

  • Planning and coordinating meetings with faculty;
  • Gathering research and data;
  • Collaborating with faculty and administrators across campus to achieve shared goals;
  • Other project coordination tasks, as required.

Furthermore, the graduate assistant will be asked to work with other CFE staff on various administrative tasks such as:

  • Project coordination;
  • Data collection and entry, paperwork processing, and records management;
  • Drafting and distributing marketing and communication materials such as flyers and digital signage for events, email newsletters, etc.;
  • Website maintenance;
  • Meeting management;
  • Other projects as assigned

We are looking for graduate students with the following abilities:

Required skills:

  • High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Professionalism in working with faculty and staff and in managing confidential matters
  • Research skills

Additional helpful skills:

  • Extremely comfortable with technology (Google Suite, Zoom, Adobe Acrobat)
  • Graphic design (print and electronic), video editing, and marketing skills are a plus

The GA in this position will be expected to work in-person part-time in the CFE office. There may also be
an opportunity for this position to be renewed for the next academic year.
