Position Summary
Serves as the main liaison and support for the School of Nursing and Health Sciences and all graduate programs across campus. Supports the research activities of students, faculty, and staff; guides library users in identifying, retrieving, and evaluating information in all formats. Partners with faculty and library colleagues to develop and deliver information literacy instruction via classes (in person and online), workshops, and individual consultations (in person and online). Participates in collection management for resources in all formats.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as liaison to the School of Nursing and Health Sciences.
  • Serves as the main research point of contact for all students in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences, including undergraduates, ABSN, MSN, and DNP students.
  • Provides input on the identification, review, selection, and de-selection of resources in all formats.
  • Liaises with faculty, including becoming familiar with teaching and research interests, as well as creating online subject/course guides and providing information literacy instruction sessions.
  • Monitors the development of new programs and assesses and helps plan library support for programs in development.
  • Trains faculty on the use of new resources.
  • Serves as liaison to the natural sciences programs within the School of Arts and Sciences.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for all students in the Natural Sciences, including Anatomy.
  • Provides input on the identification, review, selection, and de-selection of resources in all formats.
  • Liaises with faculty, including becoming familiar with teaching and research interests, as well as creating online subject/course guides and providing information literacy instruction sessions.
  • Monitors the development of new programs and assesses and helps plan library support for programs in development.
  • Trains faculty on the use of new resources.
  • Runs a training program.
  • Conducts regular performance evaluations.
  • Answers queries from PRCs.
  • Monitors related technology and reporting.
  • Offers research support services to all users during scheduled shifts at the Research Desk and provides individual consultation services to faculty and students by appointment. Assists library users with locating resources and utilizing equipment in the library.
  • Keep abreast of changes in college curriculum including new courses, new majors, new schools and degrees.
  • Keeps abreast of new course, major, and degree offerings in order to maintain a current library collection that supports the curricular needs of students and faculty.
  • Identifies materials to be weeded and selects new materials to be added to the collection.
  • Maintains current awareness of information literacy instruction trends in academic
    libraries.

Qualifications

  • MLIS/MLS or equivalent graduate degree from an institution accredited by the American Library Association.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Nursing curriculum and databases.
  • Preferred experience with research instruction and support at the college level.
