MBLC Hiring: Electronic Services Specialist, Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, (Boston, MA)

The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners is looking for an Electronic Services
Specialist to join our team.

This person develops and supports statewide electronic services, including licensing statewide
databases in coordination with the Massachusetts Library System (MLS). The position also
provides strategic direction and day-to-day management of all MBLC web properties, provides
content and technical expertise to MBLC staff to improve online service offerings, and helps
libraries improve their own electronic services through targeted grant offerings.

We’re looking for someone experienced with front-end website design and maintenance, has
knowledge of library eResources, and an understanding of the challenges libraries face when
delivering information online. This position requires someone able to communicate effectively
and collaborate with both MBLC staff and external partners.

This position is hybrid-eligible and does require scheduled attendance in our Boston office.

Qualifications:

Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional
experience in libraries or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the
required substitutions below.

A Bachelor’s degree in library science may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the
required experience on the basis of two years of education for one year of experience.*

I. A Master’s or higher degree in library science may be substituted for a maximum of
three years of the required experience on the basis of two years of education for
one year of experience.*

 *Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the
requirements actually completed.
NOTE: Educational substitutions will only be permitted for a maximum of three years of the
required experience.
Special Requirements: Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts
Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or the equivalent from another state may be required.

Salary Range: $70,429.58 – $95,722.12
