The University of Maryland (UMD) Libraries seeks a creative and service-oriented professional for the position of Open Education Librarian, which is a two-year PTK position. Reporting to the Head of Research Education, the Open Education Librarian will build on existing work and relationships to develop, coordinate, assess, and implement a program of services that advance the creation and use of freely available, high-quality Open Educational Resources (OER) at the University of Maryland. This position will also take an active role in contributing to wider campus efforts aimed at reducing the costs of course materials for students overall, partnering with colleagues in units including the Teaching & Learning Transformation Center and Office of Undergraduate Studies.
As a member of the Research Education unit, the Open Education Librarian will join a fast-paced learning environment that values collegiality, collaboration, and creativity. The successful applicant will exhibit a growth mindset and commitment to improving their practice through the study and employment of educational, critical, and learning theories and pedagogies. Successful candidates will have a strong understanding of open educational resources (OER), open licensing, and open pedagogy.
