Job Description:
Provide reference service to faculty, staff, students, and other library patrons using the full range of
technology aids such as email, chat, phone, Zoom, and traditional modes of interaction.
Assist in training and supervising student and graduate student workers in the absence of circulation
staff. Communicate and uphold library policies. Assist patrons as needed in the basic use of computers, Microsoft Office products, printers, photocopiers, scanners, etc. May assist with other department functions including circulation, interlibrary loan, and technical services.
Qualifications
Required: MLS degree or MLS degree candidate (a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge skills and experience are acquired may be considered). Excellent customer service and communication skills; able to interact courteously with library patrons, student workers, and library staff; able to exercise sound discretion when administering library policies. Experience with conducting reference interviews and searching research databases. Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and basic technical troubleshooting.
Preferred: Experience working in an academic library. Some experience with library circulation systems, as well as supervisory experience.
Work Schedule
30 weeks, academic year (excluding holidays and breaks)
Monday to Thursday: 8:30 p.m. to midnight and Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with extended
hours during finals weeks.
Total hours = 19 per week
