INFORMATION SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR, Norfolk MA Public Library

$36.02/hour – $37.84/hour
Under the supervision of the Director, the Information Systems Administrator performs technical and administrative duties for the Library, providing information technology services to staff and patrons, and operating and maintaining computer systems, networks, and software. Performs all other related work as required.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the design, installation, and operation of a local area network.
- Maintains computers, printers, and other equipment through which the Library accesses the SAILS database.
- Responsible for all computer equipment, peripherals, networks, and applications within the library.
- Troubleshoots software issues and resolves problems on all computer equipment.
- Oversees the development and maintenance of the Library website.
- Ensures optimum control and security of information; provides for disaster recovery of hardware and software; provides documentation of a controlled access to system backup information.
- Develops and maintains complete documentation for all components of the Library’s Information System.
- Supervises all phases of automation including circulation, acquisitions, cataloging, and processing of all Library materials.
- Oversees employees’ use of technology in the operation of the Library.
- Provides one-on-one technical support for patrons.
- Conducts network wiring and troubleshooting.
- Develops education programs for staff and public on the use of new technologies; motivates, instructs, and trains staff to ensure technology is utilized effectively.
- Determines the cost effectiveness of system enhancements and ongoing maintenance agreements.
- Assists in the preparation of the Library’s annual budget by preparing budget estimates of technology-related operating and capital improvement costs.
- Prepares specifications for new equipment and makes recommendations concerning the purchase of new equipment and abandonment of obsolete equipment.
- Performs similar or related work as required, directed, or as situation dictates.
- Executes passport processing and will become the future head of passport services once trained.
