Library Director, Minot-Sleeper Library, (Bristol, NH)

Located in the beautiful Lakes Region of New Hampshire with proximity to a wide range of outdoor
recreation opportunities, the Minot-Sleeper Library seeks its next Library Director. This individual is an experienced leader with excellent communication skills and is service-focused. This is an exciting time to be leading operations at the Minot-Sleeper Library, as new initiatives are launched in alignment with the library’s strategic plan, and new approaches to outreach are developed.

Essential job functions:

  • Manages and supervises the operations of the library
  • Recruits, make recommendations for hire, trains, supervises, and evaluates all library personnel
    including dismissal after consulting with Board of Trustees
  • Formulates recommendations for library policies and the library’s personnel policy and enforces
    policies subject to Board of Trustees approval
  • Prepares and presents the annual budget, and oversees the expenditure of library funds
  • Maintains and reports necessary statistics for the Board of Trustees, the Town, and the State
    Library
  • Manages the library’s technology-related resources, including its Tech-To-Go program, and
    oversees technology purchasing and upgrades
  • Coordinates programming for adults
  • Oversees the physical maintenance of library facilities
  • Maintains and updates the library’s strategic plan in conjunction with the Board of Trustees
  • Oversees training and supervision of volunteers

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and
    personnel management
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Knowledge of modern technology, and the ability to utilize it to advance the library’s public
    resources and internal procedures
  • Experience with grant writing or the ability to learn
  • Proficient with or possess the ability to learn a variety of software programs including Microsoft
    Office, Google Drive, integrated library systems, and other library-specific software
  • Experience in developing and delivering innovative programming for library patrons of all ages

Qualifications:
The candidate will hold a Master’s in Library Science from an ALA-accredited school and have
experience in library administration or have an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Salary and Benefits:
This position is full time, salaried beginning at a rate of pay of $50,000-$58,000 depending on
qualifications and includes a generous benefits package.
