Temporary Library Assistant, Harvard Business School /Baker Library (Boston)

** This is a temporary position for up to a 6-month period**
This full-time, temporary position requires excellent customer service skills for proactively welcoming and engaging with patrons to identify and address their needs. Primary duties include working collaboratively with attention to detail as a team member to open/close the library, provide access, circulation, and ready-reference assistance, communicate and apply library policies, support library and collection security measures, and help maintain an orderly, safe, and quiet space for researchers. Responsibilities also include providing directional and technology assistance, checking book returns, shelving, assisting with scanning, data entry, routine clerical duties as needed, and supervising student assistants. Work is performed in an office setting. Dress is business or business casual.
Special Requirements: Standing for long periods of time, pushing book trucks and lifting bins up to 40 pounds.
Start Date: MON 08/14/2023
Hours: 35 hour work schedule. Summer shifts have start times that vary between 8:30am and 9am and end times that vary between 4:30pm and 5pm. Semester shifts have start times that will vary between 8:30am and 11am and end times that vary between 4:30pm and 7pm. Semester shifts could also include Sunday 2pm – 7pm.

Qualifications
Previous experience with an Integrated Library Systems (ILS)and familiarity with MS Office applications in a Windows environment is preferred but not required.
