Job Summary:

The Walt Disney Imagineering collection team handles Imagineering’s library, art, photo, and show documentation collections and photography studio, which support the research and design needs of Imagineers. The librarian will support everyone on the team by greeting and directing building visitors, working the library circulation desk, and coordinating building-wide events and services. Under the supervision of the senior library staff, they will work on library projects in support of the library’s mission of delivering information and inspiration through insightful research, making readily accessible a comprehensive collection of physical and digital resources, and serving as a liaison to the network of resource centers and special collections throughout The Walt Disney Company.

You will report to the Development & Production Operations Executive.

Responsibilities/You Will:

  • Proactively greet visitors to the building, offering reference assistance and instruction on how to use the library and its resources
  • Maintain a high level of communication with collection team staff and refer patrons to collection specialists as needed
  • Manage information and circulation desk duties, including circulation, serials management, processing materials, as well as maintaining, shelving, and weeding the collections
  • Catalog books and other materials, and research and recommend new materials/resources
  • Maintain updated patron data and reports, usage logs, supplies, and track materials on order
  • Assist in special projects and other duties as needed
  • Maintain and coordinate meeting spaces, supplies, and other building operations tasks as needed 


  • Frequent seizing, holding, and grasping with hands
  • Pushing/pulling, carrying, and lifting items up to 35 lbs
  • Repeated stooping, squatting, bending, or kneeling
  • Repeated reaching overhead and at or below shoulder level
  • Ascending and descending a traditional or step stool/stepladder
  • Activities may be required for extended periods of time, up to 4 hours
    • For example, in a typical workday, the librarian might use a cart to shelve 30 books in the morning, then pull and carry 3 books 10 times, and scan another 30 books in and out intermittently.
  • Project work may change the frequency and duration of these requirements

Basic Qualifications/You Will Have:

  • 3 years experience working in a library or archives environment or related experience
  • Experience with Sirsi Dynix or other library catalog software systems
  • Cataloging experience including knowledge of the Dewey Decimal Classification system, Library of Congress Subject Headings, and controlled vocabulary systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with digital or physical asset management
  • Experience working with archival materials such as collections of paper-based documents and newspaper clippings
  • Experience in webpage design and content management


  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent preferred; will consider candidates currently enrolled in Master’s program

Additional Information:

This position is located in Glendale, CA.

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $45,955 to $61,647 per year based on a 29-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
