Library Director, Frost Free Library, (Marlborough, NH)

The Frost Free Library is seeking a Library Director to lead our growing library. Under the supervision of the Library Board of Trustees, the Library Director is responsible for library operations including planning, organizing, directing, and managing all aspects of the library in conformity with Trustee policies and municipal/ state laws and regulations. Both full-time and part-time applicants will be considered.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Oversees daily library operations, including staff management (4 part-time staff)
  • Materials selection and management
  • Program development
  • Facility Maintenance
  • Develops and administers annual budget; monitors expenditures
  • Recommends and reviews policies
  • Advises Board of Trustees on operational, staffing and facility issues
  • Works with the Board of Trustees and library staff to provide efficient and effective library services for the community.
  • Prepares reports and documents as required by state, town and Board of Trustees.

Starting Salary Range: $20-$30/hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Library Science (M.L.S) or equivalent graduate degree from an institution accredited by the American Library Association; three years progressively responsible experience in public library management including personnel supervision, budget management and policy development; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

An ideal candidate would have:

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and ethics of professional library work. Knowledge of facilities management and operations including administration, budgeting, and personnel. Working knowledge of computerization and appropriate library applications and technology.
  • Ability to supervise staff and volunteers in an effective and supportive manner. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with organizations, departments, and officials. Ability to plan,
    implement, and evaluate effective library services. Ability to communicate effectively and have excellent organizational skills. Ability to do a moderate amount of lifting, bending, and standing.
