Reference Specialist, Chelmsford Public Library, (Chelmsford, MA)

Due to an internal promotion, the Chelmsford Public Library has an opening for a reference librarian.
This librarian will enjoy providing reference services to our community – in person, on the phone, and through live chat and email. They will assist our patrons with resources in print and online formats, including databases and the internet. This colleague is a go-to guide for patrons and staff using digital platforms for reader’s advisory and reference, including e-readers, tablets, phones and computers. They will be a part of a team planning and conducting library programs and outreach activities primarily for adults, especially seniors, and also support programs for our local Genealogy group. They will have a role in non-fiction collection development.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong reference and customer service skills and be comfortable with a variety of web applications and social media. They will have solid technology skills, including web tools and mobile platforms, and a strong desire to share these skills with the public. This position reports to the Head of Reference and Information Services, but more importantly will be an asset to our patrons.

Salary: $27.59 per hr – $40.39 per hr in 10 steps
Schedule: 37.5 hours per week including two Saturdays each month and one evening per week.
Qualifications:
- MLS/MLIS or MLS/MLIS candidate preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; coursework and/or experience in reference services desired
- Working knowledge of a variety of non-fiction literature
- Experience or interest in supporting digital literacy for our community
